Quotes from dealers after the Wilmington show, January 2010

Even if we wanted to, we couldn't make this stuff up.

• As always this is one of the best run shows in the east and always through good times and bad produces a large and active crowd of antique enthusiasts. You can count on it. Jim Dolph, JSD Antiques
• We were extremely pleased with both the number of shoppers and the number of sales (the latter totaled over 35). Richard Thorner, Resser-Thorner Antiques

• As usual, Marvin drew a large, varied group of shoppers. We sold several pieces of furniture, as well as period jewelry and paintings. It was our best “away-from-home” show since May 2008. John Maggs, Jan and John Maggs Antiques
• The show was lively and active, groups of buyers, not just families and a selling environment not seen in the business in many years. Lesley Lorant, GPSF Antiques
• The show is such a delightful mix of 18th, 19th and 20th century items. There is truly something for everyone at all different price levels and styles. Bob Voss, Yesterdays Luxuries.
• I sold small and interesting objects. The attendees were varied and interested in objects from all periods and cultures. That keeps me coming back. Mike Westman, Michael B. Westman Fine Art
• Top notch management and staff. Right from the signing of the contract to this follow-up survey, management takes a real personal interest in the vendors. Stephen L. Snow, Steve & Betsey Snow Antiques
• This was my third show of the New year. • For me, the Wilmington show is the only Show that has remained recession-proof! Sue Mesick, Quirky Antiques
• I think the quality of dealers has gone way up in the last couple years. This should continue to attract more "quality" buyers. In the type of market that we have had for two years, i think it is remarkable that the show has improved to the extent that it did. Great job, Marvin. Kim Kassner, The Brewster Shop
• Marvin Getman is the promoters' promoter - it is invariably worth the 7 hour drive to participate in his shows. After 25 years in the business, his January Wilmington show is my top show. Sandra Willson , Sandra S. Willson
• I definitely noticed a change in the crowds on Sunday. The people who came on Sunday seemed to be more interested in the stuff we had than in the past. A lot less tire kickers. As the show was closing, we made our last sale. I saw lots of purchases being carried around Sunday afternoon. I sure did not sense a "gloomy economic mood". This show, as usual, attracted a large crowd of people. Jim Durgin, Damsell & Durgin
• I have been a part of this show since its inception and it never ceases to amaze me that the show is always great.........Marvin works hard to get the advertising out and the returns are terrific........dealers, some new and some returns, are always top notch Willis Somoya, The Shady Lady
• As always, an excellent crowd. Peter Murphy, P.D. Murphy Antiques
• Marvin really brings in the gate and that's the most important thing we can expect from a show promoter, especially in this economy. What Marvin has shown us is that marketing is everything; he takes nothing for granted. Greg Lovell Gregory Lovell Antiques
